Sweet-N-Sour Meatballs
Here it is! The easiest, best-tasting, never-fail, crowd-pleasing recipe for sweet and sour meatballs. The bread holds the leanest game burger together while the sweet and sour tomato-based sauce cuts any wild taste that may be present. I've even used late-season buck burger in this recipe and the flavor is fabulous.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground venison
- 4 slices crumbled bread or equivalent crushed crackers
- salt, pepper, minced onion and garlic - to taste
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup vinegar
- 2/3 cup water
- 2 T. liquid smoke
- dash Worcestershire sauce
Directions
Mix venison, bread, milk, egg and seasonings together; form mixture into golf-ball-size balls. Place a single layer in a large baking pan. Mix remaining ingredients in bowl and pour over meatballs. Cook, uncovered, at 350 for 50 minutes. Serve with rice or noodles.
